Tamarindo, Costa Rica

As a foreigner living in Tamarindo, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Tamarindo if they have access to public healthcare in Tamarindo. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"Yes, as a foreigner living in Tamarindo, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Costa Rica is known as the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS). It is a comprehensive system that provides access to medical care, including preventive care, hospitalization, and specialist care. The quality of care is generally good, and the cost is relatively low compared to other countries. However, it is important to note that the public healthcare system in Costa Rica is not as advanced as in other countries, and wait times can be long," remarked another expat in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
