"It is not typical but its better than any other. I am renting a "summer house" in the forest for 3500kr (about US600) The housing is horrible. I pay cheap because I can't afford a better place which is around 7000 - 10000 kr (1100 - 1800 dollars) per month (utilities not included)," said another expat in Alesund, Norway.
"I live in a huge former old peoples' home except I don't live in it. There's no work for me near the house and I don't live in Norway though I work there and pay tax there. 22 years in Norway and I've had a residence permit for about 9 months. Most expats in the area? Most live in "normal" houses. I didn't have much choice," wrote a member who made the move to Skei i Jolster, Norway.
