Paget

Suburban   Coastal   Beaches

Paget sits on Bermuda’s south shore, and the first thing that surprises most visitors is how much of the parish is tied to the water: Elbow Beach, Coral Beach, and the sheltered inlets around Hamilton Harbour are all close together. If you’re staying here, you’re a short hop from the capital, but the feel is quieter than downtown Hamilton, with residential lanes, pink-sand coves, and the long curve of South Road tying everything together. For a real local day, start at Elbow Beach and then cut over to the Bermuda Botanical Gardens on South Road, where the open lawns and cactus garden give you a break from the coast. The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Crow Lane is one of the easiest rainy-day stops in the area, and the nearby Hamilton Princess & Beach Club makes a good landmark for dinner or a drink by the water. If you want a slower pace, walk or taxi between Paget’s beaches, then head into Hamilton for Front Street, the ferry terminal, and the restaurants around Queen Street before coming back to the parish for a quieter night. Paget works well for travelers who want beach access without being stuck in a resort bubble. The parish is compact, so you can move between South Road, Middle Road, and the harbor edge without much effort, but taxis are still the easiest way to connect the dots if you’re carrying beach gear or traveling with kids.
