The Tombs of the Kings sit a short walk from the sea, and that contrast sets the tone for Kato Paphos: Roman stone, fishing boats, and café tables all within the same few blocks. Start at the Paphos Archaeological Park, where the House of Dionysos, House of Theseus, and House of Aion still hold floor mosaics sharp enough to stop you in your tracks. From there, the path to Paphos Harbour passes the medieval Paphos Castle, the old quay, and the line of waterfront restaurants where the evening light lingers over the water. Kato Paphos works best on foot, especially if you base yourself near Poseidonos Avenue or the harbour. The Archaeological Museum of Paphos in the upper town is worth the short ride if you want context for what you saw at the park, and the nearby Fabrica Hill area gives you a quieter look at the ancient city’s footprint. For a slower hour, walk the coastal promenade toward Alykes Beach and the municipal baths area, then cut back through the side streets behind the seafront for bakeries, kiosks, and everyday life away from the tourist strip. If you want a local rhythm, time your day around the harbour: early morning for a clear look at the boats, late afternoon for shade, and evening for the promenade when the heat drops. The area around Kennedy Square and the old town edge gives you a different Paphos from the waterfront, with smaller shops and less polished corners. Kato Paphos is compact, but it rewards wandering; the best moments here are often the ones between the headline sights.
