Viti Levu

Urban   Coastal   Beaches

Viti Levu, Fiji's largest island, centers on Suva, the capital city, and extends west to Nadi, home to the international airport. Suva's downtown district features the Colonial Parliament House, the Fiji Museum on Cakobau Road (housing Pacific artifacts and historical exhibits), and the bustling Suva Municipal Market where locals trade fresh produce and handicrafts. The island's interior includes the Rewa River valley and access to traditional Fijian villages where visitors can participate in kava ceremonies and observe daily village life. Nadi on the western coast serves as the main gateway, with nearby Denarau Island offering resort clusters, water sports, and the Sabeto mud pools—natural thermal springs where visitors coat themselves in warm mineral mud. The Coral Coast, stretching south from Nadi along the Queen's Highway, contains numerous beachfront resorts, the Natadola Beach with its white sand, and access to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. Viti Levu's interior highlands and river systems provide trekking opportunities, including hikes to Narikoso Falls and Tavoro Falls near Levuka.
