Outside of the city center, the cost of renting an apartment is usually lower," remarked one member in El Salvador.

"Bought a house, same process as in Canada, have a lawyer make sure everything is done properly," said one expat in La Libertad.

It is also important to be aware of the local customs and traditions when purchasing property in El Salvador, as these may affect the process. 6. It is important to be aware of the potential risks associated with purchasing property in El Salvador, such as political instability, natural disasters, and crime," explained one person living in El Salvador.
Are foreigners allowed to own property in El Salvador?

Additionally, the foreign national must have a Salvadoran bank account in order to purchase property," remarked one foreigner who made the move to El Salvador.

We asked foreigners in El Salvador what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"In El Salvador, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Additionally, some properties may include air conditioning units, dishwashers, and other appliances," explained one person living in El Salvador.
