"1. Expats should do careful research about the local tax laws, including estate and capital gains taxes, and the costs of banking, property and investment services. 2. Expats should familiarize themselves with the local culture and language. Spanish is the primary language spoken in Panama, and understanding it will make living in the country much easier. 3. Expats should look into the cost of living in Panama, as the cost of living can vary greatly depending on location and amenities. 4. Additionally, expats should look into the quality of healthcare services in Panama, as the quality of care may vary significantly. 5. Lastly, expats should read up on the retirement visa requirements and make sure they are in compliance with the country’s immigration laws," remarked another expat who made the move to Panama.
